Short films are making their place in internet world, these short-films are open up a new way of earning. If you wanted to make your first short film then you should need basic knowledge about film-making. 

SCRIPT

If you want to make a short-film, first you should write a story which should not more than 6 to 7 pages, keep your story simple with less characters. These things will help you to make good short-film. Basically a short film gives a social massage to our society, so we need a simple and sweet massage in our story.

SHOT-SIZES

Shot-sizes are the main thing to make a short-film. If you don’t have knowledge about shot-size, I really say your short film not works. There are different types of frame sizes, close-up, mid close-up, Extreme close-up, long shot etc. These shot-sizes make your short film more interesting. It also depend on you, how you will set your shot-size and there should be continuity in action when your shots are changing on screen.

STORY BOARD

Story board is mainly used for visualize your film. Here you have to draw sketches like a comic book according to your story line. Story-board is very important film-making because it gives you correct idea about shot and by watching your story board you can visualize how your film will appear on screen. Story-board will help you in time consuming and it will save your money because you have already planned your story-board according to your story.

 

LOCATION

Location is one of the most important things in this process of film-making before starting your film’s shooting you should visit your location with your cameraman. This visit will help you to decide, how you will use your equipment at this location and your location should be according to your story line it will give real touch to your short-film. 

DIGITAL CAMERA

You should have a digital camera to record your short-film. During shooting time your camera battery should be fully charge. Now days most of the filmmakers record their films on digital camera, smart phones, i-phone even some feature films are recorded on smart phone. There are so many smart phones which gives you HD quality video recording which is enough to shoot your short-film, if you cannot purchase a camera for shoot.

EDITING SOFTWARE

There is much free editing software available on the internet, which you can download to edit your short-film. You can use many editing software like adobe premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro(FCP), Window film maker there so many other editing software which you can use it to edit your short-film.

In digital film-making you record a shot but something is wrong in that, then you can delete it but in film you cannot delete it, due to that more money was wasted on film reels.

Earlier all recorded material were sanded to the lab for editing which was very difficult process but today it become easier than previous time. Today almost each and every film is edited on computer and it is easier than old film editing, due to that digital film-making helps in saving post-production cost.
